Thriller Movies I Watched in May

Every movie I binged in May. I watched only thriller and psycho mysteries for a month.

I'm not going to bother talking about the state of the world, I think we hear and read enough about that already.

Instead let me distract your mind, and recommend some deeply disturbing movies I viewed, they range from fantastic storytelling about human behavior to boring movies I'll never watch again.

I just recently got a Netflix account (I typically watch TV conventionally, I know, I know). So thus began my journey into binge-watching and watching movies as if I've never seen one before!

I'll rate them out of 5!

Here is a list of every movie I watched:

1. Swallow (2020)- Nooo not that kind of film. I would describe it as a thriller drama. It's about a woman who is in a picture perfect marriage, who eventually becomes pregnant and develops pica. Pica is an eating disorder where you eat inedible objects. In this case, a marble and a variety of other objects. The scenes are a pretty graphic. Rating: 4/5

Hayley Bennett as Hunter Conrad in Swallow

2. The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)- A psycho thriller that is also fairly graphic. This movie left me very unsatisfied. The acting, cast, and tone are incredible. It's about a doctor who befriends a dead patient's son, the son gets revenge on the doctor and his family. Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell are amazing, as well as Barry Keoghan who plays Martin. I found the ending a little too artsy for my liking. Rating: 3/5

3. I, Tonya (2017)- I loved this movie, just the right balance of psychopath, swearing, sports, and breaking the fourth wall. I love the style of the film and I love Margo Robbie, who doesn't? I would gladly watch again! Rating: 5/5

4. The Invitation (2015)- Ok. When I say this movie is a slow burn, I mean, you could be on your phone watching other videos for half the movie and still know exactly whats going on. I found it painfully slow, with not a lot of character development. It's about a cult. The end is equally meh. Rating:1/5

5. The Perfection (2018)- I was recommended this movie from a friend and I enjoyed it! I wish Allison Williams' acting was slightly better, but overall its a fantastic thriller with lots to digest. This movie will leave you speechless at times. Rating: 4/5

6. Velvet Buzzsaw (2019)- I loved this film! A bunch of snooty rich art buyers getting murdered one by one because they're money hungry? Ya I'll watch it! The cast range is awesome. An art buyer discovers a plethora of paintings after her artist neighbor suddenly dies. Calamity ensues. Rating: 5/5

7. Gerald's Game (2017)- I'm going to call this movie a sexual fantasy thriller. A married couple attempt to add some spice to their marriage and it fails. Turning the situation from steamy, to weird, to awful, the characters have depth, and it's very psychological. Shows true survival in a strange situation. The acting is also great! Rating: 5/5

8. Parasite (2019)- What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? It was a rollercoaster of a plot. The layers, characters, emotion, all so staggering and unlike anything I've seen in a long time. I found myself rooting for almost every character at some point. Rating: 5/5

9. Swiss Army Man (2016)- I watched this movie for fun, not realizing it had more fart jokes than Shrek, but it was definitely a good time. I've always liked Paul Dano and certainly love Daniel Radcliffe. They created a very cute bromance between them. I found it refreshing. This movie isn't disturbing, but humourous and light. Rating: 3/5

10. The Platform (2019)- This movie was recommended by my father. A movie about morals and ethics. One wakes up on a platform, they are allowed to bring in one object. A smorgasbord of food is placed on a floating/moving platform starting at level one, it then moves down to all of the other platforms, giving people a 2 minute window to eat what they can/want. The further the level you are on, the less food. Rating: 5/5
