Riverdale: Why I Still Watch It...

The show that involves high schoolers that do everything, but actually go to high school.

I love Riverdale. I'm not ashamed to say it. The show is awful, cringey, and weird, to the point where I would say its good. It's funny for all the wrong reasons. And just when you thought the plot couldn't get crazier, it does. It can go from fairly tame to making you wonder how on earth these kids are even alive.

Season 4 has thus fair been insane. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, because honestly anything can happen and almost any info is a potential spoiler. So instead, I'll go through the characters and my thoughts on them.

Betty Cooper: Played by Lili Reinhart.

Betty in Riverdale is far from the Betty in the original Archie Comics, (yes I read them). She starts out as the classic girl next door trope, but quickly grows into an individual and character of her own. She still dresses like Nancy Drew, and essentially is very Nancy-like, but nonetheless, she is intuitive, strong, and powerful in her group of friends.

Veronica Lodge: Played by Camila Mendes.

Words can't describe how much I actually dislike this character. She is extremely annoying, and really- how many times can one girl say "Daddy" and "Archiekins" is beyond me. It's like those are the only words in her vocabulary. Veronica is the typical rich, city girl that needs to find a way to redefine herself in a small town. She eventually begins a couple businesses, which is expected of a high school junior.

Archie Andrews: Played by KJ Apa

He's ginger, jacked as hell, plays guitar, sings, plays football, co-owns a gym, works for his dad's construction company AND he's a viligante? WOW! I mean what else is there to say? Oh ya- He's only 17...

Jughead Jones: Played by Cole Sprouse.

He's weird. He's a weirdo. He doesn't fit in, he doesn't want to fit in. (I'll link the video below for reference). This scene is iconic from Riverdale's first season, and it'll never get old. I still quote it today. I like Jughead, I think he's honest and knows who he is. But I also like his dad better, F.P. Jones, played by the one and only Skeet Ulrich.

Cheryl Blossom: Played by Madelaine Petsch.

I love Cheryl! She says the most outrageous, double-take lines in the entire series. Can't lie, I also love her hair. Her character also goes through A LOT of crap, and deserves more attention. In an interview, Madelaine addressed that she hopes the writers approach Cheryl's mental health appropriately.

"You can't discriminate against someone because they're better looking than you."

"I'm coo coo bananas for you, obviiii."

I find this show so addictive and I cannot stop watching it. At this point I can't stop, I need to know what happens next. The characters, plot, musical episodes are all over the place, but I love it. It makes me laugh.
