I am fully obsessed with The Sinner series, I think its a dark, compelling series that invites it's audience along for a mysterious ride.
If you don't know, The Sinner follows Detective Harry Ambrose (played by Bill Pullman) on different cases, as he endures his own struggles.
Season 1 was about Cora Tannetti, (played by executive producer, Jessica Biel) who randomly and impulsively murders a man during a day at the beach with her family. Ambrose unlocks her secrets buried in her mind and solves what really happened.
Season 2 followed Julian's fate as he murders his parents and deals with the controversy of growing up in a cult like community. Ambrose, again, uncovers the dark truth.
Season 3, stars Matt Bomer, Chris Messina (my fav) and of course Bill Pullman is back to play Ambrose (below).

The season is almost done, I just finished the seventh episode.
This season has been very up and down in terms of themes, philosophy, secrets, health, and relationships, both romantic
and platonic.
Matt Bomer plays Jamie, a deeply troubled man who just started a family with his wife. He gets a visit from an old friend Chris Messina, who plays Nick, a seem to be enlightened being who has no fears.
The main theme of this season, I would say, is Jamie's inner conflict of wanting to break free of societal norms and begin living his authentic life, but he does not know what that looks like for him. In college, Jamie began being influenced by Nick's sophisticated self.
As a man, Jamie is becoming unhinged and confused, he doesn't want to live a regular life of keeping up with the Jones'. He wants to be free, but what does that mean for our dear Detective Ambrose? Who is constantly entwining himself deeper and deeper into his suspect's lives in an unethical, unprofessional way. However, his unusual practices have lead him to crack the previous other two season's cases in an explosive way, uncovering more secrets.

As usual, I don't want to spoil too much. So I'll do a regular character overview and you can decide for yourself if you want to watch!
Detective Ambrose: Is a misunderstood detective with a disturbing past. He is notorious for being asked "Do you always get so close to your suspects?" He answers no, but every season so far, he does. He takes it too far which gets him into trouble.
Jamie: Struggles with accepting and wanting to care for his new family, but also wants to be a free man, and live his truth.
Nick: Known as Jamie's mentor, his philosophy mentor. He shows Jamie the values and teachings of Nietzsche's Ubermensch, which is a more evolved man.
Leela: Is Jamie's wife, she is a strong businesswoman who owns a store in Dorchester. She doesn't know a lot about Jamie's past, or how he feels.
Sonya: Is an artist that is involved in the case, in a minor way. She sees a lot of light in people, including Ambrose.
If you have time, which we now all have time. Do yourself a favour and watch #TheSinner you won't be disappointed!
