JEEEEEZZZZZ
I finished the last episode of Servant a few days ago, and DAMN. I want the second season now. (SPOILERS)
The episode was all over the place and has me rethinking the entire existence of Jericho. But before we get into the last episode, I need to recap what happened in the episode that finally showed us what happened to Jericho!
I ended my last article by saying I did not want to give away any spoilers, but if you haven't seen it by now, you should really spend the afternoon just bingeing it (it won't take you nearly as long as bingeing YOU season 2, *coming soon*)!
However, in this article I really want to dive into the sequence where we finally learn how Jericho passed away.
The Servant cast: Toby Kebbell, Lauren Ambrose, M. Night Shyamalan Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint (all looking stunning).
Jericho's Death:
One particularly hot/humid day in Philly, Dorothy takes Jericho out on a day of errands. Sean is out being a judge on a TV food show, he's out of town for three days. Dorothy and Jericho arrive home with several groceries. After parking, Dorothy brings in the groceries, puts them away, goes to the bathroom, calls Sean to complain about the heat (putting into context just how sticky it is outside), then begins to watch TV, which turns into a nap. Dorothy then wakes up to a startle, its the delivery men with a GIANT hunk of meat for Sean, which should have been delivered when he was back from his trip. Dorothy goes upstairs to check on Jericho, who isn't in his bed...
She walks out to the SUV parked outside the house, opens the door, gets Jericho out of the car seat and bring him upstairs. Dorothy takes a bath with Jericho's body and continues the day as if nothing has happened. She puts him to bed as usual.
My jaw was dropped this entire time. I was shocked. I got goosebumps.
I liked that we finally got to know what happened, but I also hated this scene because you realize the full depth and weight of what actually happened.
Thus begins Dorothy's spiral into her mental break from reality.
We know that Leanne has known for sometime that she is aware of what happened. She asked Sean why he stayed with her. Sean explains that it happens fairly often, and its not considered murder.
The final episode is filled with an extra dose of creepy, due to Leanne's aunt and uncle showing up for a final showdown of trying to get her back, with all the culty, weird looks, and manipulation. Her uncle and Sean have a fairly deep connection in the wine cellar. Sean just wants his son back. There's a twist of religion and cult powers where, to be honest, I don't know if Leanne put some sort of spell over the doll to make it real, or if I just want Sean to be at peace. But JEEEEEZZZZ I want this show to continue. The plot, tone, cast, acting is absolutely impeccable. I want the second season now. *
*predictions for season 2 coming soon*
